Session recap
The vibrant festival at Torrentmoot buzzed with excitement as Solara pursued her own activities, leaving the others to immerse themselves in the festivities. Gurnak approached a staff member, seeking the first story her parents had told her, but was briefly deterred by the staff's insistence on the importance of work. Undeterred, she introduced herself to Vaska, who shared her origins from the Empty Hand Hold and recounted the Razor Tooth legend, a tale of an orc child proving himself through a hunt. Intrigued, Gurnak pressed for more details, revealing her mission to document orc history and culture for outsiders. Vaska Klashe encouraged her to speak with a man with books, emphasizing the value of staying productive at Torrentmoot.
As the days passed, The Group was approached by worried orc parents whose children, Kar, Xan, and Ilo, had gone missing after venturing east to forage for mushrooms. Vaska Klashe promised to find them, and with Gurnak's knowledge of mushroom growth patterns, The Group set off in search of the missing children. After traveling for an hour and a half, they discovered a ravine filled with mushrooms and signs of the children's passage, leading to a blocked cave entrance. Clearing the rubble, they encountered orc skeletons within. Gurnak unleashed a blast of wind, knocking one skeleton prone, while Vaska Klashe smashed it apart with her warhammer. The battle escalated as The Group fought against the undead, with Klein lighting a torch to illuminate the dark passage. Gurnak attempted to strike the skeletons with electricity, but it proved ineffective. Vaska Klashe discovered that bludgeoning attacks were more effective, and after a fierce struggle, Gurnak's healing magic restored his companions and ultimately destroyed the remaining skeletons.
In the treasure room, they uncovered remnants of past occupants and signs of a disturbance. Upon returning, they confronted Kar, who had barricaded himself and his siblings inside a chamber. After some convincing, Kar agreed to join The Group in defeating the remaining undead, eager to prove himself. Venturing deeper into the tomb, they encountered skeletal champions and a powerful White-Haired Undead creature. A fierce battle ensued, with Gurnak dazzling one champion and Vaska Klashe striking another. The white-haired undead's song instilled fear in several members, but Vanna's rune dispelled their dread. As the fight progressed, Kar bravely attacked but missed, while Gurnak's healing magic kept The Group standing strong. In a climactic moment, Kar struck the final blow against the white-haired undead, though Gurnak took a severe hit in the process.
After stabilizing Vaska Klashe and treating their wounds, The Group returned the children to their grateful parents, who rewarded them with a preserving container. Back at camp, they sold some recovered items but kept an enchanted longsword, which Vanna Wintercrest modified to enhance their weapons. The festival celebrated their success, with Kar boasting of his heroics, while Fizzik and Gurnak reminded him of The Group's collective efforts. The following day, The Group gathered around a puzzle box that had perplexed many. Through teamwork, they deciphered its mechanisms and successfully opened it, revealing a dragon turtle scale and a blank parchment. Ardax praised their cooperation and hinted at future significance for the parchment. Before departing, he warned them of trouble in the main camp involving a lost tusk, suggesting they investigate further.
