About Knights of Lastwall

Faction overview

A knightly order from the nation of Lastwall, maintaining ties — and old rivalries — with several of Belkzen's holds. The surviving Knights of Lastwall seek allies against Tarbaphon and are interested in the Black Jackets’ training and in support and supplies from Druma. Their predecessors, the Knights of Ozem, were part of Taldor’s army in the Shining Crusade; they bound their patron Arazni and forced her to fight Tarbaphon. The Knights of Ozem became enemies of Belkzen’s Orcs and neglected the danger in Gallowspire before Lastwall fell. Led by Kestrel, the Knights of Lastwall have centuries of experience fighting Orcs. The church of Iomedae provides most of their support, and many knights follow her.
Kestrel noted that Goblins who assisted Lord Uldun II in escaping the Whispering Tyrant contributed to the Knights' continued existence. She shared stories with Fizzik about those Goblins and later discussed the need for coordination with Vanna, emphasizing that the Knights and the holds of Belkzen must communicate their attacks and retreats while combating the awakened Whispering Tyrant. Kestrel acknowledged the fraught history between the Knights and the orcs but asserted that cooperation was essential due to the greater threat posed by the Whispering Tyrant.

The Knights of Lastwall were invited to join the nations gathering around Lake Encarthan, alongside Razmiran representatives, against the Whispering Tyrant. Kestrel hoped to form an alliance with Belkzen against their common enemy and eventually find friendship. She planned to serve with the knights in the Gravelands after Torrentmoot and envisioned commanding both an orc horde and a knightly battalion. She later stated she would not send children to the Knights of Lastwall yet, while Ardax considered fostering between Orcs and outsiders premature until trust had been established.

Kestrel discussed a mutual-aid alliance with Klein, who offered to bring the proposal to the Black Jackets’ captains but could not guarantee their agreement. Seeking a goodwill gift, she gave him a silver scimitar recovered from her recently deceased former squire; Klein accepted and promised to convey the Knights’ goodwill. Kestrel and the Knights accompanying her later traveled at the rear of the column, fully armed and armored. She told Fizzik that some goblins had been knighted and suggested he might join them, though she doubted he would enjoy their disciplined life.
