Biography
Character overview
Facts:
- He was a young man whose position at the mill gave him economic standing in Sandpoint; he carried himself with more self-importance than his years and experience had earned.
- He had few friends outside work, was described as a womanizer, and was known in Sandpoint’s social circles more for romantic entanglements than professional accomplishments.
- He was among the youths who harassed Nualia at Turandarok Academy and called her “a slut.” He was friends with his coworker Ibor Thorn.
- He was known for skimming money and overcharging customers, and openly expressed attraction to Eliza Darrow.
- He accepted a platinum coin from Lucien for information, saying the Darrows had ordered nearly three tons of high-quality timber but canceled shortly before delivery. He said marked logs sometimes arrived hollowed out to conceal goods from Jubrayl Bisky’s people, claimed the mill’s owner knew of the arrangement, suggested blaming Eyeball Thorn if it was exposed, and asked Lucien to conceal his involvement.
- Esquik and Rasvantin followed Banny and Katrin into the closed sawmill before withdrawing.
- After his murder, his mutilated body was found in a smaller office, fixed to the wall with hooks used for hanging machinery. His face had been carved away, his lower jaw was missing, and a seven-pointed star had been carved into his bare chest while he was alive. He had no defensive wounds and did not appear to have moved during the carving; claw marks were found on one arm.
- The office Ledger indicated money was being skimmed from the mill, and Harker was identified as the likely person maintaining those accounts. Rasvantin Torvashti concluded that the removal of Harker’s jaw could prevent someone from questioning his corpse through a spell.
