He was trapped high in a rotten tree with his right hand pinned and turning purple for nearly three days; the tree collapsed, he was smashed unconscious, then revived and found to have a badly hurt but not permanently ruined hand.

Vardalel is a limping woodsman and carpenter who introduced himself by name. He was trapped high in a rotten tree with his right hand pinned and turning purple for nearly three days; the tree collapsed, he was smashed unconscious, then revived and found to have a badly hurt but not permanently ruined hand. He drank an entire waterskin offered by Arsène, told the party he had seen three hobgoblins ambush two rangers, led them to the two dead Chernasardo Rangers, accepted refuge at the Main Camp, and began traveling with the party while saying he could be useful around Camp though not much use in a fight.
