Refugee Leader

Character overview

The refugee leader was among the survivors camped at the party’s abandoned camp. Arden reported that he often held his stomach and bent over when others were not watching.
When Wren approached the camp, the leader answered in a hoarse, coughing voice. He called his illness a cold, questioned why the party would help, and suggested they resented the refugees’ success without them. He denied having parasites, but moving bumps showed beneath the skin of his arms and neck when he pulled down his sleeves. He accepted help, then claimed only a couple of others had minor stomachaches. Wren found several more refugees with moving bumps.
The leader distrusted Gundugar Herdtender’s medicine and asked Vendel Coldblade to swear it would not make them explode. After Vendel swore, he drank a large gulp, sat down crying, and refused to persuade the other refugees to take it. The party got everyone to drink the infusion. It made the refugees sicker at first; within hours the visible worms stopped moving, and after a couple of days they began vomiting and otherwise expelling them.
