NPC overview

Keroyn, also known as Keoryn, The Woman, and Keroin, is a militia veteran present at the Ramsgate massacre. She is armed with a crossbow and a "grass mower," carrying crossbow bolts, soap, and food. Described as dirty with no visible wounds, she formerly worked as a militia tracker. Spotted hiding inside a ruined tower, she shouted at the party, threatened them, and identified Vendel Coldblade as a goblin while insisting Gundugar Herdtender was dead. Backing up unstable stairs, she discharged her crossbow into the air. After Bruneg and Vendel identified themselves, she stepped out to see dead Ironfang Legion and Goblin Dogs, asking where the rest were and mentioning there had been dozens. Leaning against the wall, she dropped to the ground sobbing. She said she had been alone in the ruined tower since Ramsgate, had been hunting rabbits when Goblin Dogs found and followed her, and a few days earlier had seen a wagon moving prisoners north. Gathering her belongings when urged, she confirmed the Prisoner Wagon went north and was escorted through the forest back to the party's Main Camp over the next couple of days. At Camp, she asked where she should go and how to be useful, stating she had been a tracker for the militia. She was absorbed into Camp's workforce and remained in stable condition over the following week.
Keroyn, a military veteran with survival training, offered to help around Camp, stating her proficiency in survival and accepting responsibility for perimeter security when the group would be away. She expressed suspicion of something darker than ordinary war due to the appearance of a tower in town from which hobgoblins emerged. In Camp, she conversed with Bruneg and Gundugar about her military experiences, recalling Sergeant Patin’s noisy plate and its leafy cover. She recounted her escape from Ramsgate, detailing how a Malthuni commander confronted the Fahrak leader, which led her to stab him through the eye. Her soldiers then slaughtered the surrounding guards, allowing her to flee into the Fangwood. Acknowledging that drink had helped morale during difficult times, she asked for the group's trust to oversee defenses, accepted the role, and expressed her gratitude.
