NPC overview

Herge is a wood giant who introduced himself as Herge and apologized for nearly attacking the group. He said he had not been in the area long, came from farther north in the forest, was driven away after mistaking a sacred boar for a deer and shooting it because of poor eyesight, refused the suggestion of wearing glasses, and refused an offer of a cave because he is a forest-dwelling wood giant.

At the burned clearing Herge lowered his bow, accepted the party's explanation that hobgoblins had started the fire, warned that hobgoblins who burned the forest were his enemies, and stated he would "smash them with my club," "shoot them with my bow," or "throw big rocks" at them. He warned the party the woods to the west smelled of trolls, specifically mentioning smaller Canopy Trolls that drop from above and travel in nearby packs. Herge agreed to keep patrolling the area, counted the group then said that with him they would be the Fangwood Seven, spoke with Nova in hawk-language and relayed that Nova said the party were good people, gave a final warning not to get eaten by the owlbears, and departed.
