Hobgoblin Deserters

The Hobgoblin Deserters camped in a badly organized encampment, wearing dirty, incomplete Iron Fang uniforms. They planned to go south for slaves to clean the camp, then retake the fort and prove that the person who had let them go was wrong.
The party heard their plans and crept closer without being detected. When one troop spotted the party, it fired a volley and advanced; a second troop did the same. The deserters’ alchemist attacked Gundugar Herdtender with bombs and said he should have left the forest. The troops fought the party, and the alchemist was killed by Gundugar. Wren killed the last hobgoblins with arrows. The fight left almost forty deserters dead in about twelve seconds.
