About Fangwood Six

Faction overview

The Fangwood Six operate from a concealed camp as their base. Identified members include Wren, Finnetharyn Fimbleshanks, Gundugar Herdtender, Arsène, Bruneg, Vendel Coldblade, and the rescued girl Mira. The camp also hosts Hunter Karim and Nova. The Fangwood Six traveled south to find a frantic man searching for his daughter and to investigate Hobgoblin Scout activity. They returned to camp with apples and learned that the camp had improved shelters, provisions, and morale during their absence. While traveling south, Wren led the Fangwood Six, and Finnetharyn tracked their path. They spotted a Zulgat patrol with a giant lizard, engaged in combat, and defeated the Xulgaths and the gecko. They searched the bodies, recovered Tampered Feather Tokens, and Finnetharyn butchered the gecko for meat. Following tracks to The River below Phaendar, they observed burned and dismantled buildings, a standing black Tower, and Ironfang Legion fortifying the town. Finding no trail across The River, they ceased their search for the man.
Upon returning to camp, the Fangwood Six provided Mira with food and shelter and used the captive Mitflit to track treasure to an abandoned cabin. At the cabin, they discovered neglect, triggered a bear trap, and encountered a leopard named Pilla and an undead creature known as Kellogg. They fought both outside and inside the cabin, killed Pilla, set Kellogg aflame, dismantled him, and recovered weapons, supplies, potions, and a pair of travel boots. After returning to camp, they built shelters, foraged, and kept watch. Rain later washed away tracks, prompting them to march to Gristledown, where they found buildings smashed and encountered blood-soaked skeletons and a floating animated skin. They defeated these undead foes and recovered a magical telekinetic hand, a wooden holy symbol, and apricots. Following raiders' tracks south, they later turned back, isolated two sick workers in camp, and traveled to a ranger hideout. There, they found a tortured corpse with a Magical Pack and retrieved ranger papers while a spiderlike resident remained in the cabin.

The Fangwood Six approached the Cradle of Stone to assess its potential as a permanent shelter for refugees. They gathered information about xulgaths and discovered shrieker mushrooms at the entrance. They utilized a narrow side path, which Bruneg checked for traps, concluding it had been used by xulgaths. Upon entering a Crystal-Lit Chamber, they engaged and defeated multiple xulgath warriors and a sorcerer. They examined a suspended violet crystal in a Braided Root Cradle but left it in place. The Fangwood Six searched adjacent rooms, recovered treasure and equipment, and detected and survived ambushes involving xulgaths and Giant Monitor Lizards. They treated wounds and poisons, cleared a nesting Small Underground Chamber, and recovered Magical Hide Armor and tools. They entered a Multicolored Crystal Cave, fought Spearfrogs and a xulgath leader supported by a spellcaster, killed the leader, and gathered spoils, including a Breastplate and a +1 Striking Weapon. They explored a mist-filled Unused Empty Sarcophagus containing a crystal globe, a fountain, a black mound of bones, and a passage leading deeper underground.

The Fangwood Six encountered Herge the wood giant at a burned clearing, explained they were Nirmathans investigating refugees, accepted his warning about Canopy Trolls, and received his promise to patrol the area. They searched the scene, found alchemist’s-fire flasks and lodged arrows, determined the fire was about three days old and had been checked by magic that moved trees, and brought down the fused corpses (identifying Chernasardo poncho scraps) before returning to camp. The Fangwood Six spent a week improving camp provisions and concealment, traded bulk loot to Norby who bought ordinary gear and delivered a battle lute to Finnetharyn Fimbleshanks, redistributed weapons and supplies, then resumed exploring. They engaged and defeated a well-equipped Hobgoblin patrol (killing the leader and looting a magical crossbow), tracked signs north, and later fought a fungus-Corrupted Pixie that used a dead ranger as bait, recovered a striking rune, treated wounds, and continued northward.

The Fangwood Six are refugees from Phaendar and members of the remaining Phaendar Militia. Hobgoblins have posted their likenesses, and a Chernasardo Ranger recognized them as notable figures. They shelter in the Xulgath caverns while seeking a permanent refuge and have offered the rangers shelter in exchange for securing a fort. The Fangwood Six ambushed a hobgoblin Main Camp, defeated its occupants, and recovered a Wig of Holding. After repairing Bruneg’s shield and standing watch, they met Chernasardo Rangers, who warned them of hobgoblin patrols, a dragon at Fort Trevalay, hostile Fey at Fort Ristin, and danger at the northern Fort. The Six chose Fort Ristin, fought through its Korreds, and entered the keep, where they killed a redcap. They found flayed hobgoblin skin and a cold iron spear, which they gave to Gundugar Herdtender.

The Fangwood Six claimed a fort as their new home and began clearing it. They fought through the northern tower, defeating a young redcap and an older Redcap accompanied by a trollhound, which they ultimately stopped with fire. They searched the redcaps’ rooms, finding supplies and weapons, and examined the tortured bodies of Ironfang Legion. They fed and calmed hungry Draft Animals, disarmed a cold-iron splinter trap, and negotiated with three leprechauns for peaceful passage. The Fangwood Six burned two taxidermy bear constructs and searched their hidden cache before confronting a korred in his Workshop. After defeating Halk and his spriggan allies, they spared One Spriggan and ordered him to clean the throne room. They returned to negotiate with the korred, offering to let him keep Halk’s club in exchange for opening the sealed caches and building defenses for the fort. Arsène opened one stone block, releasing the smell of a magically bottled drunken fart.

Plans for the fort include using it as a refuge for survivors, with the surviving ranger in command, contingent on the refugees being welcomed and the damaged walls repaired. The Fangwood Six cleared the lower level by destroying a wasp-spitting One Taxidermy Grizzly Bear Construct, treating Bruneg’s injuries, and dealing with Satyrs and Drunken Fey, who agreed to leave. They opened the cells, rescued a one-legged Cirieo Thessaddin, and provided him with an elixir and a crutch. Fangwood Six assisted a ghost in calculating Wine losses and compensated it with Finnetharyn Fimbleshanks’s golden dagger, ending the haunting. Upstairs, they defeated Atomies and an axe-wielding Fey, then searched the remaining rooms without finding further occupants or threats. After clearing the fort, they delivered a box of herbal liquor to the leprechauns, while the rescued Cirieo Thessaddin settled in the kitchen to cook.

The Fangwood Six consist of Nirmathans operating from a cave camp, where they have led people to safety. They cleared a ranger fort that was first occupied by Ironfang Legion and then by Fey, and are seeking a defensible location to relocate their people. They postponed confronting the dragon at the northern fort and chose to explore the western supply fort and the surrounding Forest. After resting at camp, they created a magical spoon for cooking and traveled west. They followed signs of walking trees, questioned trappers about hobgoblin activity and canopy trolls, and survived an ambush by the trolls, from which Vendel Coldblade later recovered. The Fangwood Six rested with a hermit who informed them about the moving trees, then encountered Longfrond, who ordered them to leave its Forest and warned them about Ypsyriac. They later discovered an abandoned hobgoblin camp, fought giant porcupines over the corpses, and recovered five standard kits and a sixth containing a magical scimitar. Tracks, remains, and a broken tusk indicated that large trolls had moved with or near the hobgoblins.

The Fangwood Six comprise Wren, Bruneg, Arsène, Finnetharyn, Vendel, Gundugar, and Nova. They followed Halvin’s directions toward Fort Nunder, searching the wilderness for provisions, useful items, and the fort’s hidden vault. They took the forest-edge route, fought a cave bear, salvaged supplies, elixirs, and magical runes from its cart, and killed a chimera in the Six Yores Lowland. Wren traced troll movements toward Fort Nunder before Fangwood Six reached its rubble-strewn ruins. There, they defeated the fort’s trollhounds and several trolls, using fire to prevent their regeneration. A surviving Troll Woman offered the fort in exchange for time to leave; the Party accepted the parley. She revealed that Her Father had wrecked Fort Nunder under a hobgoblin contract and that a dragon and its druid ally later claimed it for the trolls. She also spoke of a hidden vault. While she departed with her wands and gave Arsène resizing magical gloves, the Party found two secret compartments containing silver weapons, tools, rations, gold, and a disguise kit, then prepared to continue searching.

The Party is a six-person group operating from the caverns, seeking the secret vault described by Sireo. They captured a fort after defeating trolls and trollhounds, using it as shelter while searching for the vault’s entrance. They discovered Marvelous Pigments, a wand of reaching, a Dawnsilver dagger, apprentice cheating gloves, a Stone Salve, valuable cloth, and a sewing kit. After resting in the former commander’s quarters, they opened a secret door and navigated trapped passages using a table for cover. They destroyed two wooden guardians, recovered iron and bronze keys, and used them to enter an armory. There, they claimed Dragonhide Armor, an acid-resistant charm, a special bow, a horned-dragon longsword, and an adamantine starknife. They later found Boots of Elvenkind and a necklace among corpses in a beetle-filled Fissure before returning to the caverns. During their return, they identified a scroll of Cursed Metamorphosis and transferred protective runes between armor. Norvi delivered Bruneg’s bastard sword, reported trouble from Ironfang Legion and Molthuni Forces, and agreed to seek spacious pouches and suitable shortswords. The Party discussed bringing drugs to the hermit, with Gundugar able to manufacture several varieties.
