He is a former criminal whose past caught up with him in the form of Chelish justice — the scars and the damaged leg are souvenirs of that encounter — and his subsequent and apparently genuine conversion to the faith of Sarenraeis one of those small redemption stories that a town like Sandpoint quietly takes pride in without making too much fuss about. He tends the dead with a care and reverence that speaks well of him, and those who take the time to look past the unsettling exterior generally find a man who has made a sincere peace with both his past and his unusual calling.
