Session recap

As dawn painted the sky, The Party crossed the River Anin, their destination Saringallow, where they arrived just as the sun began to rise. They made their way to Hellbreakers League' secret headquarters, a modest two-story house, and upon providing the safe-house password, “We are friends of Rose,” they were welcomed by a dark-haired woman who led them to the hidden meeting area in the basement.

In the basement, The Party was reminded of their mission to bring Ethran, a non-binary human Eagle Knight veteran, to the headquarters. Ethran, who had lost an arm in battle and was now training recruits, was taken to the sparring room by Rockrack, the stern hobgoblin organizer. The Party enjoyed warm cookies and pastries offered by Xerah, a white-haired halfling, before Rockrack returned with urgent news: a recruit named Gertraud had not returned from a supply delivery, prompting The Party to investigate. Ethran gifted them a magical greatsword before they set off to the docks, where they found the warehouse with the annex door forced open. Inside, Samantha skillfully disabled a trap, allowing them to proceed safely. They discovered Gertraud tied up and surrounded by men demanding their surrender in the name of Cheliax.

Samantha took the lead, but the attackers quickly retaliated, injuring her and knocking her unconscious. In the ensuing chaos, Bromli Alefist charged into the fray while Lexx Rennde unleashed powerful magic that visibly shook their foes. The Party fought valiantly, ultimately subduing the attackers and freeing Gertraud, who revealed that the men were thieves who had intercepted The Supply Delivery. Grateful for their timely rescue, she provided them with a Whispering Wire as a reward and asked them to report back to Rockrack about the stolen supplies. Upon returning to headquarters, The Party reported their findings and then dispersed to tend to their own tasks in Saringallow. Samantha offered healing services at the local Temple Of Erastil, Lexx found work painting a merchant's stock, Hugh disguised himself as Hulara to gather information, and the group sold off some recovered gear. During his inquiries, Hugress learned of growing discontent among the locals regarding the state war steward's eagerness to serve Cheliax, as well as reports of small undead attacks along the roads.

The following day, Rockrack gathered the local recruits and outlined a new mission for The Party: to intercept supply ships on the river and seize Military Goods while minimizing casualties. Although Hugress expressed concern about his skills being better suited for infiltration, Rockrack insisted that the urgent need for supplies took precedence. He provided The Party with petty cash and detailed the ambush site, which was only two days downriver. After two days of travel, The Party reached the ambush site and devised a plan to use Bromli as bait, making him appear wounded on the riverbank. Lexx painted him with red paint to enhance the ruse, and the group took their positions, waiting for the target ship to arrive. When the ship approached, the crew slowed down to investigate the “body,” allowing Samantha and Hugress to launch a surprise attack.

As the fight erupted on deck, Hugress maneuvered against the captain while Bromli engaged the crew. Lexx conjured a spectral hand to restrain the captain, but he managed to break free and threatened The Party. The battle intensified as an animated suit of armor emerged from below deck, attacking Hugress and knocking Bromli unconscious. Samantha worked tirelessly to heal her companions while the fight raged on. Hugress ultimately knocked the captain unconscious and turned his attention to the animated armor. With Lexx’s assistance, he landed a decisive strike that destroyed the construct. However, the destruction triggered a magical explosion from the lower deck, engulfing the ship in flames just as Khar'gan reached the shore. The Party faced the consequences of their daring ambush, with the flames threatening to consume their hard-won victory.
