Character overview

Brakknap, also known as Braknap, is a goblin oracle at the Ancestor Shrine.
He knelt in devotion at a shrine carved into the base of Thorngrip’s sequoia, its surface painted with goblin faces. Blue light flashed in his eyes, and spectral Goblins seemed to stand behind him.
He greeted Zagnub’s companions and questioned Kracka about their trust and why they had come to Chitterwood. He said The Ancestors could help The Party find the armored man, but that The Chitterwood’s Goblins did not give trust lightly. He recognized Samantha’s rose of Milani, asked Kuippana why someone from Umok was not attacking Goblins, and asked Khar’gan what he was. He asked The Group to drive away the Isgeri Slayers, whose scouts had seen them in goblin territory. He said at least six Isgeri Slayers, perhaps more, hunted west of Thorngrip with wolves, and feared they might encounter other Goblins. In return, he promised The Ancestors’ help. When Kracka offered to help even without it, Brakknap thanked him and gave him an oil of potency.
When the party arrived at the shrine, he briefly smiled, said the spirits were pleased to see them, and voiced concern about Viro’s work in the woods. He believed they could stop Viro, whose power concealed him from The Ancestors, and said their help could reveal where he performed his ritual. He offered a cloudy Crystal Pendant on a leather cord and asked the party to expose it to altered energies at three nearby sites so he could see Viro’s location. Reading from a tourist’s guide, he described The Hungry Hole, Little Tree, and Moss Pond, and warned the party to stay away from the Hole’s edge. He urged the tired party to rest and offered food. Asked to mark the sites on their map, he requested a paintbrush and drew a tree, hole, and pond, noting that the positions might be inaccurate. He offered Lexx Rennde a lizard for her painting kit; later, he presented Khar’gan with a live gecko and advised biting its head first. After Khar’gan swallowed it, Brakknap said the offer had been a joke, then offered stew and said he would find more geckos for him.
