The chronicle record
The Goblinblood Wars were the defining catastrophe of recent Isgeri history — a four-year nightmare from 4697 to 4701 AR whose scars still shape the nation. The conflict ignited when Cheliax, ever greedy, pushed to claim the Chitterwood for itself; what began as goblin self-defense swelled into open war as hobgoblin warlords forged the forest's goblin tribes into a massive army, some enlisting willingly out of fury at human mistreatment, others conscripted by force. The goblinoid hordes swept north across the Conerica, razing rural communities and killing thousands while the Isgeri government dithered — Steward Hedvend VI pulled his soldiers back to guard the capital and the trade routes, leaving the countryside to fend for itself, a betrayal the hinterlands have never forgotten. The war was finally broken by an unlikely alliance of Cheliax's Hellknights, Druma's Mercenary League, and Andoran's Eagle Knights, who set the edges of the Chitterwood ablaze and shattered the offensive. In its wake came crippled veterans, countless orphans, whole towns wiped from the map, and a lingering prejudice against goblinkind — and into that grief stepped the Church of Asmodeus, whose "charity" toward the survivors quietly bound a battered people ever closer to Cheliax.
