The chronicle record

The Battle of Hellknight Hill was the bloody clash that turned Isger's simmering unrest into open war. It was sparked when the Order of the Rack publicly executed the retired Andoren general Reginald Cormoth in Breachill, an outrage that drew the Eagle Knights of Andoran marching into Isger. The Hellknights fell back into the freshly fortified Citadel Altaerein, and the ensuing siege was joined by the rebels of the Hellbreakers League. Unlike most sieges, the fighting was short and savage — Hellknights eager for battle ranged out to meet the anti-Chelaxian forces in the fields around Breachill, and at its height the diabolic dragon Kierothax perched atop the citadel and rained hellfire down on the gathered armies. Both sides suffered terribly, but the forces of freedom prevailed: they slew the dragon, routed the Hellknights, and sent the survivors fleeing southwest toward Cheliax, reclaiming both Breachill and Citadel Altaerein. In the aftermath, the Hellbreakers emerged to treat with the Andorens, trading a powerful warshard for the promise of continued aid. Her Infernal Majestrix Abrogail Thrune declared the incursion an act of war — and so the battle now stands as the first salvo of a far larger conflict between Cheliax and Andoran, fought on Isgeri soil.
