Moss Pond

Location overview

The forest undergrowth transitions into a moss patch several dozen feet across. The moss is several inches thick, in various shades of green, and undulates as though floating on water, though no water is visible. Parts of the moss resemble creatures. Lexx Rennde identified the pond as a portal to the Elemental Plane of Wood.
A sloth took fruit from its back and threw it at Kracka, then moved closer and attempted to grab him. As the party fought the sloths, the moss rebounded beneath Mielikki and Kracka, and spore-spears shot from the ground, missing Kracka. More moss grew over the sloths; one struck Kracka, and another hit him with a wooden claw. Lexx weakened the portal’s connection using her occult knowledge. Kuippana ended the disturbance with nature’s power: the remaining sloth disappeared, the moss settled, and the portal remained, allowing vital energy and creatures to pass through. Kracka’s Crystal Pendant turned bright green. Samantha treated the party’s wounds, and Kracka found a Striking Rune and a Smuggler’s Padlock beneath the moss.
