About Breachill
Location overview
Breachill is a modest town nestled at the foot of the Five Kings Mountains, featuring streets, a southern gate, Monument Circle, Caden’s Keg, the Shelyn’s Smile building, a soldiers’ camp, and a nearby river. Founded generations ago around the benevolent guidance of a mysterious wanderer named Lamond Breachton, whose statue still watches over the townsfolk, Breachill was named in his honor. For most of its history, it was a quiet, self-reliant community, with its closest brush with greatness being the nearby Citadel Altaerein, raised by the Hellknight Order of the Nail before they abandoned it for Korvosa.
That quiet ended when rumors spread that Breachill was sheltering the Hellbreakers League and the warshards Cheliax coveted. The Order of the Rack marched in and occupied the town, ruling through curfews, house arrests, and public executions, infamously executing the Andoren envoy General Cormoth when he came to plead for mercy. His death ignited the Battle of Hellknight Hill in the fields outside town, where Andoran's Eagle Knights and the Hellbreakers together routed the Hellknights and reclaimed both Breachill and Citadel Altaerein. The townsfolk celebrated a recent victory over the Hellknights, during which Lexx Rennde painted a mural on a wall and fled from Khar’gan after covering him in pink paint. At Caden’s Keg, a storytelling contest honored those who drove the enemy away, with Lexx winning two healing potions. The tavern had no available rooms, leading the group to disperse for the night. By morning, official bounty decrees circulated through the quieter streets as protests gathered in Monument Circle. The group departed through the main gate by wagon, opting for a longer overland journey instead of the river route. Now, the town sits in the uneasy, celebratory aftermath of that liberation—proud of its deliverance, but bracing for whatever Cheliax's wounded pride brings next.
