The Sisterhood of the Golden Erinys is an order of Asmodean nuns devoted to the Lord of Hell, instantly recognizable in their red habits marked with a five-pointed star worked in golden thread. They rose to prominence in the years after the Goblinblood Wars, when—backed by the Church of Asmodeus and House Thrune—they established orphanages across Isger, including the Bright Embers Orphanate in Vordia, and took in the countless children left parentless by that conflict. Across nearly two decades of this work, Sister of the Golden Erinys have earned an impeccable public reputation: in towns throughout the countryside, ordinary folk speak of them with nothing but warmth and gratitude, regarding them as selfless caretakers who stepped in to shelter the vulnerable when the Isgeri government would not.
To a Hellbreaker, however, that gentle face conceals the quieter half of Cheliax's grip on Isger. The Sisterhood's charity has never been charity alone—the orphans in their care are raised on the worship of Asmodeus and a careful diet of pro-Chelaxian teaching, growing up to be grateful, loyal subjects of the very empire that profits from their nation's suffering. Where the Hellknights enforce obedience through fear, the Sisterhood cultivate it through kindness, and in doing so, have bound a generation of Isgerians more tightly to House Thrune than any soldier ever could. For rebels who would see Cheliax's influence rooted out, the Sisterhood is a thornier problem than any garrison: an enemy beloved by the very people Hellbreakers League hope to win over. Since the Goblinblood War, the Sisterhood has opened many orphanages throughout Isger.
