The Sisterhood of the Golden Erinys is an order of Asmodean nuns devoted to the Lord of Hell, instantly recognizable by their red habits marked with a five-pointed star worked in golden thread. They rose to prominence in the years after the Goblinblood Wars, when, backed by the Church of Asmodeus and House Thrune, they established orphanages across Isger, including the Bright Embers Orphanate in Vordia, and took in children left parentless by the conflict. Over nearly two decades of this work, they earned a warm public reputation in towns throughout the countryside, where ordinary folk regarded them as caretakers who sheltered the vulnerable when the Isgeri government would not.
To a Hellbreaker, however, the Sisterhood’s charitable work is also part of Cheliax’s hold on Isger. The orphans in their care are raised in the worship of Asmodeus and with pro-Chelaxian teaching. Where Hellknights enforce obedience through fear, the Sisterhood cultivates loyalty through kindness, making them a difficult obstacle for rebels seeking to diminish Cheliax’s influence. Since the Goblinblood War, the order has opened many orphanages throughout Isger. The Bright Embers Orphanate, on the eastern outskirts of Vordia, has a gate labeled “Established 4700” and a two-story structure with unusual angles, drawn curtains, dying grass, and a partly open door. Teenagers who entered reported strange lights and noises. After a visit from a Hellknight, the last two children at the orphanage were adopted.
The Sisterhood operated Bright Embers Orphanage before departing for the Lucent Mission on a task intended to bring glory to Asmodeus. After The Party discovered a letter and resolved the haunting at Bright Embers, Vordia’s authorities were alerted to the sisters’ disappearance and the evidence found there. Sister Endreah is a superior of the order. Sister Sylve, wearing the order’s red habit and golden star, later approached The Group. She claimed that Viro Ahala had deceived her sisters and used their resources to seek a ritual for summoning a powerful devil, and that Andrea might know the intended location. Sylve said she had left the Lucent Mission weeks earlier and that Andrea no longer trusted her. She denied that the sisters had been cruel or that children had died at Bright Embers, and asked The Group to avoid killing them if possible.
The Sisterhood maintains a mountain mission in The Asputel Mountains, led by Sister Endreah. Its walls bear pentagrams and a prayer to Asmodeus. The sisters were believed to know where a suspected Hellknight was preparing a ritual. Two confronted The Group outside the mission, denied inviting Kracka, insulted him, and threatened violence. The Group subdued them and entered. Inside, a better-trained sister fought alongside two lemures before being knocked unconscious; further sisters attacked in the training room and were also subdued. In the study, Endreah fought alongside an avian-looking devil and claimed that Beeros’s ritual would free Isger from its goblin problem. The Group killed the devil and pursued Endreah when she fled, then subdued her. She surrendered and agreed to answer questions about the ritual and the missing Hellknight.
The Golden Erinys are also described as based at the Lucent Mission at the foot of the Aspodel Mountains, under Endreah’s leadership. While traveling toward Umok, The Group encountered a sister who reported that other members had joined a Hellknight in planning a ritual to destroy Chitterwood’s goblins; she suspected the Hellknight was an impostor and directed the party to Endreah. At the mission, Endreah fought alongside a librarian devil and surrendered after The Group killed it. The other nuns were left alive. Endreah observed The Group searching the archives without intervening. She said Viro Ahala was in Chitterwood preparing to summon a powerful devil and planned the ritual near the forest’s eastern border. She described his Hellknight armor and appearance, and said the mission’s members would be compelled to tell him the truth if he came there, which was why she had agreed to collaborate. Kracka judged that she was telling the truth while attempting to manipulate The Group. He ordered her to remain at the mission and tend to Sister of the Golden Erinys, and Endreah agreed.
