Event account
At the shrine cut into the sequoia's base, Brakknap turned from his devotions with blue light flaring in his eyes and, for a heartbeat, spectral goblins standing at his back. He asked each of them why they had come, and why a hobgoblin trusted longshanks. The ancestors could find the armored man, he said, but Chitterwood's goblins do not give trust away: first drive off the Isgeri Slayers. Kracka said he would do it with or without the ancestors' help, and was given an oil of potency for the road.
